Learning to drive is an exciting milestone – but it can also be daunting. At LGS Young Person Driving Academy in Frome, Somerset, we help learners build skills and confidence in a relaxed, professional environment. Open to anyone aged 13 or over, our sessions take place on secure off-road facilities, making them ideal for first-time drivers and adults returning to the wheel.

Why Early Driving Experience Matters

Starting to learn the basics before your 17th birthday can make a huge difference. Research shows that early driving experience – even on private land – helps create safer, more confident drivers. At LGS, learners become familiar with vehicle controls and develop good habits before ever setting foot on a public road.

Our secure off-road facility allows learners to focus purely on skill-building, away from traffic and test pressure. It’s the perfect introduction to driving.

You do not need a provisional licence to attend, as all training is delivered off-road on private land.

Our expert instructors tailor each session to the learner’s needs and ability. Topics covered include:

• Vehicle familiarisation
• Clutch control
• Moving off and stopping safely
• Steering and cornering
• Parallel parking
• Hill starts

We aim to build solid driving foundations while ensuring the experience remains enjoyable and pressure-free.

Facilities and Instructors You Can Trust

Training takes place at our secure, off-road driving site in Frome, which includes a designated viewing area so parents or guardians can observe from a safe distance.

All sessions are led by professional LGS Transport Training instructors, including an advanced police driver and a fully qualified Approved Driving Instructor (ADI). With a strong focus on safety and confidence, you’ll be in very capable hands from the moment you arrive.

One-Hour Sessions

Each driving session lasts one full hour and is priced at £70. Our structured, confidence-building approach has made us popular with both first-time learners and returning drivers – with many coming back for repeat visits.
