What are Skills Bootcamps?
Skills Bootcamps are free, government-funded, flexible courses of up to 16 weeks, designed to help you build sector specific skills and move into employment.
At present, funding is confirmed for those looking to move into employment within the construction sector.
At LGS Transport Training, our HGV Skills Bootcamps focus on helping you become a qualified
Category C or C+E driver, with support every step of the way.
Who Can Apply?
To be eligible for the HGV Skills Bootcamps, you must:
- Have the legal right to work in the UK (funding restrictions mean this programme is not available to individuals on a student visa or with asylum seeker status).
- Be ordinarily resident in England.
- You no longer need to have lived in the UK for 3 years to be eligible.
- Live in Wiltshire or be planning to work in Wiltshire after completing the course.
- Be aged 19 or older on or before 31st August 2026.
What Licence Will I Get?
This HGV Skills Bootcamp is focused on:
- HGV / LGV licences (Category C or C+E).
Please note:
This course does not include bus or coach training (Category D or D1).

The course runs over several weeks and is designed to take you from getting started right through to test-ready.
Classroom Training
Delivered in person and online (evenings and weekends available), covering:
- Driver wellness and mental health.
- Safeguarding and the Prevent strategy.
- Driver hours and tachograph rules.
- Safe vehicle loading.
- Emergency First Aid awareness.
- Theory test preparation.
- CV writing and interview skills.
Practical Training That You Will Also Receive:
- Professional driver training.
- Support with theory tests.
- Practical driving sessions.
- Your practical driving test at the end of training.
